Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated October 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pieceful ("Pieceful," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use the Pieceful iPhone app, its related web pages and our support channels (together, the "Service"). It also explains the choices and rights you have. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Pieceful is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at piecefulai@gmail.com. The Service is offered only in the United States.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an identifier for your Apple Account. We do not request your name or email address, and we never receive your Apple Account password.
- Room photos and scans. Photos of your living room or bedroom that you take or choose in the app and, on iPhones with LiDAR, scans of the room's shape and size, with the camera position needed to place furniture. If you use the tape-measure check, we keep whether your scan matched the measurement and by what percentage.
- Design requests. What you type when you ask for a design, such as the style, colors, budget and pieces you want.
- Communications. If you email us, your email address and what you send us.
Information created when you use the Service
- Designs. The furniture layouts, product lists and AI-generated pictures we make for your rooms.
- Subscription information. From Apple: your plan, its status, renewal and expiry dates, and Apple's transaction identifiers. We never receive your payment card details; Apple processes all payments.
- Usage information. How many designs you use, when, and what each cost us to produce, so we can apply plan limits and control costs.
- Buy-link activity. When you tap a link to a product, which product and design it came from and when, so we can match referral commissions.
- Identifiers and device information. An account identifier we assign to you, which is also attached to your App Store purchases so we can credit the right account, and whether your iPhone has a LiDAR scanner.
- Technical information. Our hosting providers process network information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the Service and may keep it in their own operational logs. Our sign-in provider records the IP address and device type of each sign-in session. Our application logs are designed not to record your IP address, email address or Apple transaction identifiers; error logs may contain file names that include your account identifier.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history outside the app, health information, or advertising identifiers. The app removes location and other embedded details (such as EXIF data) from photos before upload, and our server removes any that remain the first time a photo is used.
Room photos can show people, documents or personal items in your home. Please avoid capturing anything you do not want processed. We use photos only to design that room.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: create your account, store your rooms, understand your request, choose and place furniture, make pictures of your room, and show you buy links.
- To manage your subscription: confirm purchases, renewals, refunds and expirations with Apple, and apply the plan's limits.
- To operate, secure and improve the Service: prevent fraud and abuse of the paid plan, keep costs under control, fix problems and understand which features are used.
- To credit store referrals for purchases made through our links.
- To communicate with you: answer support requests and send notices about your account, the Service or changes to our terms or this policy.
- To comply with law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect our rights and the rights and safety of others.
We do not use your photos, scans or requests to train AI models, and our AI provider does not train its models on data we send through its API. We do not use your information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. AI processing and your consent
Pieceful uses OpenAI to understand your request and to create pictures of your room. Before any photo is sent for AI processing, the app explains what is shared and asks for your agreement. OpenAI receives the words of your request, your budget, product descriptions, basic room facts from your scan (such as floor area, wall lengths, doors and windows), and your room photo with a guide showing where each piece goes. We never send your name, your email address or any account identifier. OpenAI may keep these inputs for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, or less where zero data retention is available to us.
We record which version of the consent you agreed to and check it before every design. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app's settings: no further photo or request is sent, though a step already under way may finish, and new designs cannot be made until you agree again. If we change AI providers, we will ask for your consent again.
5. How we disclose information
We disclose personal information only as described below.
| Recipient | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (service provider) | All of the information above | Database, sign-in and file storage |
| Railway (service provider) | Requests in transit and its own platform logs | Hosting our servers |
| OpenAI (service provider) | Request text, budget, product descriptions, basic room facts and room photos | Understanding requests and creating pictures, after your consent |
| Google (service provider) | Emails you send us | Email hosting for support |
| SerpApi (service provider) | Style, color and material words and the type of furniture; no information about you | Finding products from stores |
| Apple | Sign-in and purchase information, as Apple's own terms describe, and an account identifier attached to purchases | Sign in with Apple, payments and subscriptions |
| Retailers | Your browser's standard web request (such as IP address) when you open their page; we add no information about you | When you tap a buy link |
Our service providers may use personal information only to provide services to us, under terms that limit their use of it and require them to protect it. We may also disclose information: (a) when required by law, subpoena or other legal process; (b) to protect the rights, property or safety of Pieceful, our users or others, including to prevent fraud; (c) to a buyer or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this policy; and (d) with your direction or consent.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and have not done so in the past 12 months. Buy links do not pass identifiers about you to stores. Stores and their affiliate partners may collect information through your browser when you visit them, under their own policies.
6. How long we keep information
| Information | Kept |
|---|---|
| Rooms, photos, scans, requests, designs and pictures | Until you delete the room or your account |
| Account, subscription and consent records | While your account exists, then as described below |
| Usage records, buy-link taps and App Store notifications | 13 months, for billing and referral disputes, then deleted |
| Buy links | Referral credit for 30 days; the link record one year after that |
| Product search results (no personal information) | 30 days |
| Support emails | As long as needed to resolve your request and keep a record of it |
When you delete your account, we delete your account and every file and record linked to it. Some records remain, unlinked from your account but still carrying Apple's transaction identifier for your subscription: usage records (kind, cost, time) and the App Store notification log for up to 13 months, and the subscription record (plan, status, expiry) until 13 months after the subscription ends, so that a plan's allowance is not reset by creating a new account. Buy-link records, which then show only the product, remain until they expire. Copies in our database provider's backups are removed as those backups expire. We may keep information longer where the law requires it.
7. Your choices and rights
In the app you can:
- Access and export your data (Settings, Export my data): a file with your account, consent, subscription, rooms, photos, scans, requests, designs, pictures, usage and buy-link records, with download links for your photos, scans and pictures that work for one hour.
- Delete a room, which removes its photos, scans, designs, pictures and buy links.
- Delete your account (Settings, Delete account), as described in section 6. Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription; cancel it in your iPhone's Settings, under your Apple Account, Subscriptions.
- Withdraw AI consent in Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to know what personal information we hold and how we use it, to obtain a copy in a portable format, to correct inaccurate information, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, of sharing for targeted advertising, and of profiling. We do not sell, share for targeted advertising, or profile, so there is nothing to opt out of. You can exercise your rights with the in-app tools above or by emailing piecefulai@gmail.com.
We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need up to 45 more days and why. To protect your account, we verify a request by asking you to confirm it in the signed-in app. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for written permission from you and ask you to verify your identity directly. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word "Appeal"; we will respond within 45 days, and if we deny the appeal you may contact your state attorney general. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
8. Notice for California residents
This section supplements the policy for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA). In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, from you, from your device and from Apple, for the purposes in section 3, and disclosed them for a business purpose to the service providers in section 5:
| Category (CCPA) | Examples | Disclosed to |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Apple sign-in identifier, account identifier, Apple transaction identifiers, IP address, and your email address if you contact us | Supabase, Railway, Apple, Google (support email) |
| Commercial information | Subscription status and history | Supabase, Railway, Apple |
| Internet or other electronic network activity | Plan usage and buy-link taps within the app | Supabase, Railway |
| Audio, electronic, visual or similar information | Room photos and room scans | Supabase, Railway, OpenAI |
| Inferences | The style, colors and budget understood from your request | Supabase, Railway, OpenAI |
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit it, we do not sell or share personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16. Retention periods are in section 6, and your rights and how to exercise them are in section 7.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals because we do not track you across third-party websites or apps. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing, although we do neither.
Shine the Light. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
9. Security
We protect personal information with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit, providers that encrypt stored data, access controls that limit each account to its own rooms and designs, and automated security testing of the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Age requirements
The Service is intended for people 16 and over. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links to other websites
The Service links to stores' websites. When you open them, those websites' own privacy policies apply, not this one, and we are not responsible for their practices.
12. Where information is processed
The Service is offered in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top and, if a change materially affects how we use personal information you have already given us, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
